When Nova Edgcombe wanted to set up a sole-operator hygiene clinic, she approached several dental fitout providers. Due to the detail in our comprehensive proposal, she decided to work with Dentec.
The defining element of this project was its small size, with only 43 square metres available. While being compact offers some ergonomic benefits for a sole operator, it can be restrictive in terms of design.
With the expertise of Dentec, the brand new Mint Dental Hygiene was opened in June 2023. Along the way, the team faced some challenges. Read on to learn more about how we solved them.
This project was a classic example of a renovation project in an older building. Extensive work was required to meet the Building Code and even more to get relevant building consent.
Additionally, the client was on a tight budget and deadline, requiring financing to get the project off the ground. As well as the needs of our client, we needed to be conscious of the landlord and surrounding businesses. Being on a busy main street in Takapuna, this project required careful planning and seamless scheduling.
To start with, we referred the client to DLL for dental financing. Due to the extremely tight budget and timeline, we project managed the entire fitout to simplify the process and avoid delays.
To bring the building up to code and obtain building consent, we installed passive firewalls and fire alarms, both in the clinic and in adjoining businesses above and below. Our designers worked around the compact size, managing to fit a surgery room, staff room, accessible toilet, plant room, reception, and waiting room.
